Mostly I have an idea of what will happen at the end of a book, but I have to admit that I had no clue where we were going with this one. For Part Two, which began early; about 20%. Just like any other child, he starts blaming himself, for there is no one near him to tell that it was just a terrible accident, that he is not responsible for it. This pair of brothers has a pretty good relationship because they just act like typically brothers getting along very well. Because the Wart is doing nothing, the ant thinks he is insane and reports him to the central command.
At this stage, we begin to learn more about Elsa's past history and things that she does demonstrate her apparently fragile mental health so, like the authorities, the reader is led to believe that perhaps she is mistaken. He fails to find meaning behind a cactus that she gave him in response to his proposal. She is learned but unassuming and always a voice of commonsense, reason, and compassion; her perspective provides the reader a stable point of return throughout the novel. There are also visits to temples or the imperial court, trade ventures, and exercises of patronage, but mostly these are reported on indirectly.
